I. The Problem of Excessive Radioactive Substances in Sea Fish at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant
(1) The content of radioactive cesium in the sea fish caught in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is as high as 18,000 becquerels per kilogram, exceeding the standard specified by the Japanese Food Sanitation Law by 180 times.
(2) To prevent contaminated fish from swimming out of the port, the power company plans to set up multiple protective nets in the port.
II. Adjustment of Food Safety Policies
(1) On May 31, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan revised the maximum residue limits of some agricultural and veterinary drugs in food. The announcement came into effect on the date of issue, and the changed limits will come into force one year after the date of issue.
(2) On June 5, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan lifted the enhanced inspection measures for difenoconazole in Chinese - produced edamame and its simple processed products and deleted the relevant content from the monitoring and inspection plan.
(3) On June 12, based on the inspection results, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan lifted the enhanced monitoring and inspection of acephate in Chinese - produced shiitake mushrooms and deleted this inspection measure from Schedule 2 of the Imported Food Enhanced Monitoring and Inspection Plan of Japans Fiscal Year 2023.
